Korda Wide Gape XX

This is a truly classic hook pattern and the wide gape has accounted for a huge number of big carp catches in the many years since its release. It is based on an old classic spade-headed hook pattern from the 80s and 90s that was popular with many anglers at the time – the Maruta Kinryu – but it has been improved and made more user-friendly by swapping the spade for an eye.
The Wide-Gape has a slightly inward-curving eye, a short shank, a heavily forged bend and a very sharp, beak-like point. It can be used with a wide range of different pop-up and groundbait presentations, and once it has found hold, it usually stays put. For fishing in difficult conditions in the UK, or when fishing overseas, there is also a Wide-Gape X version.
For truly extreme conditions overseas – such as when fishing for huge Siamese carps or Mekong catfish in Thailand – there is an even more robust Wide-Gape XX version. For waters where barbless hooks are required, the barbless Wide-Gape-B is perfect.
All are supplied in packs of ten, with the Wide-Gape available in sizes 10, 8, 6, 4 and 2, the Wide-Gape-B in sizes 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1, the Wide-Gape-XX in sizes 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 and the Wide-Gape-X in sizes 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 and 2.
